Technical notes

ROI Calculator computes return on investment = (gain − cost) ÷ cost × 100.

Figures use the costs, prices and rates you enter and exclude taxes and one-off charges unless a field asks for them.

Because it runs locally, results appear instantly with no server round-trip.

Worked example

Investing 50,000 and receiving 65,000: ROI = (65,000 − 50,000) ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 30%.

FAQ

How does this ROI calculator compute return?

ROI is the gain (final value minus amount invested) divided by the amount invested, shown as a percentage, so 1,000 growing to 1,500 is a 50 percent ROI.

Does the ROI Calculator send my data to a server?

No. The ROI Calculator runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript; the values you enter never leave your device and nothing is uploaded or saved.

Does it account for time?

No. This is a simple total return, not annualised. For a yearly rate, use a CAGR or annualised-return tool over the holding period.

Can ROI be negative?

Yes. If the final value is below the amount invested, the ROI is negative, reflecting a loss.
