Technical notes
GST Calculator adds or removes GST as amount × the rate you enter, giving the tax and the gross or net amount.
Rates and thresholds change over time, so confirm against the current official figures before filing or invoicing.
Because it runs locally, results appear instantly with no server round-trip.
Worked example
Adding 18% GST to a ₹1,000 base gives ₹180 of tax and a total of ₹1,180. Reversing it, a ₹1,180 GST-inclusive price at 18% breaks down to a ₹1,000 base and ₹180 GST (1,180 ÷ 1.18 = 1,000), which is the inclusive mode.
FAQ
How does Add versus Remove work in this GST calculator?
Add treats your amount as the pre-tax base and adds GST on top. Remove treats your amount as GST-inclusive and extracts the tax, so the net plus the GST equals what you entered.
Does the GST Calculator send my data to a server?
No. The GST Calculator runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript; the values you enter never leave your device and nothing is uploaded or saved.
Can I use any GST slab?
Yes. Enter any rate such as 5, 12, 18, or 28 percent; the tool simply applies the percentage you type and does not assume a particular slab.
Does it split CGST and SGST?
It shows the total GST. For intra-state supplies you can halve that figure into CGST and SGST; for inter-state supplies the whole amount is IGST.
