About this calculator

The Calories Burned Calculator is a browser-based tool that helps you estimate the calories you burn. You enter your weight, activity and duration, and it applies the formula calories = MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200 × minutes to return the calories burned. Everything runs locally — no sign-up, no uploads, nothing stored — so it stays fast and private.

MET values are averages and real burn depends on pace, fitness, terrain, and efficiency. Use the estimate to compare activities rather than as an exact calorie count.

Technical notes

This calculator estimates calories using: calories = MET × 3.5 × body weight in kg ÷ 200 × minutes. MET values are activity estimates, so the result should be treated as an approximate fitness estimate, not a medical measurement.

A training estimate from the figures you enter; real results vary with fitness, terrain and conditions, so use it as a guide.

Because it runs locally, results appear instantly with no server round-trip.

FAQ

How are calories burned estimated?

We use the MET formula: calories ≈ MET × 3.5 × weight(kg) ÷ 200 × minutes. Higher-intensity activities have larger MET values and burn more per minute.

What is a MET?

A MET, or metabolic equivalent, expresses an activity’s intensity relative to sitting quietly. Walking is about 3.5 MET, while running can be around 9.8 MET.

Why does weight affect the result?

Heavier bodies use more energy to perform the same movement, so calories burned scale with body weight in the MET formula.

Does the Calories Burned Calculator send my data to a server?

No. The Calories Burned Calculator runs entirely in your browser — your inputs never leave your device, and nothing is uploaded or stored.

Worked example

Running (MET 9.8) for 30 minutes at 70 kg burns MET × 3.5 × kg ÷ 200 × minutes = 9.8 × 3.5 × 70 ÷ 200 × 30 ≈ 360 kcal. This is an estimate only.
