About this calculator

Brick Calculator is built to estimate bricks for a wall without a server round-trip. Provide your wall length, wall height, brick type and waste % and it uses wall area, brick size with mortar and waste % to produce the number of bricks, instantly and entirely in your browser, which makes it handy for quick checks and repeat runs.

Why use the Brick Calculator

Instant

Every quantity is worked out on your device the moment you tap Calculate.

Private

The numbers you enter stay in your browser and are never uploaded or saved.

Works offline

Once the page has loaded it keeps working on a weak or dropped connection.

Mobile-first

Laid out for phones and tablets on site just as much as for desktops.

Planning estimates

Results are simplified planning estimates; real material needs vary by product size, waste, layout, local codes, and site conditions, so confirm before you buy or build.

Common uses

Brick when allowing for the mortar joint

Brick for a wall length and height in bricks

Technical notes

Brick Calculator divides the wall area by the area one brick (plus mortar joint) covers, then applies the waste % you enter.

Includes the waste % you enter; confirm coverage rates and material sizes with your supplier before ordering.

Results are rounded for display; the underlying calculation keeps full precision.

Worked example

For a half-brick (115 mm) wall of 10 m × 3 m = 30 m² using modular bricks (190 × 90 × 90 mm) with 10 mm mortar joints, each brick face plus joint covers about 0.02 m², giving roughly 50 bricks per m² → about 1,500 bricks, plus ~5% for breakage ≈ 1,575. Brick sizes, wall thickness and mortar joints vary by region, so treat this as an estimate.

FAQ

How many bricks per square foot are assumed?

A modular brick is about 7 per square foot, a queen about 6, and a standard about 6.75, including a mortar joint.

Does the Brick Calculator send my wall size anywhere?

No. The Brick Calculator runs in your browser and the wall figures you enter are never uploaded.

Why add a waste percentage?

Cuts at corners and openings and the odd breakage mean a few extra bricks, so a small waste percentage is sensible.

Is this for a single-wythe wall?

Yes. The count is for one brick thickness; double the result roughly for a two-wythe wall.
