The countdown shows total days remaining, the same span as weeks plus days, and an approximate number of months.
What if the From date is blank?
Leaving From blank counts from today; the To date is the target you are counting down to.
What happens after the target passes?
If the target date is in the past, the result says it has already passed and by how many days.

Worked example
